Disabled Voters

Each precinct in Jefferson County has an Election System and Software (ES&S) Express Vote voting machine. We teach our poll workers at election schools to set up the Express Vote voting machine in their precinct and have them ready to go when the polls open at 7:00 AM.

An ES&S election website says, “The Express Vote is a hybrid of several devices: a scanner, printer, touch screen display, and input device.” The Express Vote is a specialized piece of voting equipment that is more easily accessible for disabled voters.

Our Registrar, Barry Stephenson, is responsible for voting precincts. All of the voting precincts in Jefferson County are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
